​Bermuda Chess Association is pleased to announce the Bermuda Open Chess Championship 2019.

The championships will be held in Hamilton, Bermuda. The tournament will take place from Saturday June 15th to Monday June 17th 2019.

Playing Venue

​

The games will take place in the Elbow Beach hotel, 60 South Shore Road, Paget, Bermuda.

No electronic devices will be allowed at the playing venue.

Tournament schedule

​

Round 1: Saturday June 15th, 9:30 am

Round 2: Saturday June 15th, 3:00 pm

Round 3: Sunday June 16th, 9:30 am

Round 4: Sunday June 16th, 3:00 pm

Round 5: Monday June 17th, 9:30 am

Round 6: Monday June 17th, 3:00 pm

Closing ceremony Monday June 17th, 7:00 pm

Players that don’t show for a round and don’t inform the Chief Arbiter will not be allowed to play in the next round.

Technical regulations

​

The Championship is an Open tournament for all players. 

Time limit per player: 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment for every move starting from move one. 

A player forfeits the game if he or she hasn’t appeared at the board within 30 minutes after the start of the game.

The final ranking order of the players is determined by the number of points scored. If at the end of the tournament two or more players are tied for the first place or for any prize, the tie shall be broken as in accordance to the following criteria for Swiss events:

Results of direct encounters between the tied players  (applies only if all tied players have played each other),

Buccholz Cut 1,

Buccholz,

The greater number of wins.

Prize fund

1ST PLACE $500.00å

2ND PLACE $250.00 

3RD PLACE $100.00 

In addition the gold winner participates in all upcoming 2019 Bermuda Chess Association tournaments free of charge.

Entries must be sent by 12 June 2019 by email to bermudachess@gmail.com

All entries shall include:

Full name and FIDE ID  (FIDE ID is going to be issued to all Bermuda players that currently don’t have a FIDE ID. )

A registration fee of $50.00 will be applied to all players.
